Last night my dad and I saw a production of The Most Happy Fella at the Dicapo Opera Theatre. Located in the basement of the St. Jean Baptiste Church, the Dicapo is a true hidden gem in this enormous city: with only 200 seats, every seat is a great one. Fella is a largely operatic musical from Frank Loesser (Guys and Dolls, How to Succeed…) about a mail-order romance between an older Italian grape farmer and a young waitress. The talented cast was backed by a flawless orchestra, and the acoustics in the intimate space were so good that none of the actors used mics (as is the norm at the Dicapo).
